3 Things to be prepared for when you’re thinking about competing in bodybuilding.

Thinking about doing a bodybuilding show? Here are a few things that can help you decide if this is the right choice for you.

First off be prepared to be hungry! When preparing for a show you will be a calorie deficit so this is normal. Being hungry, tired and exhausted can add pressure to your relationships with loved ones and friends. Be ready to keep your mindset and try your best to not let the hunger beat you.

One thing that always seems to shock people (mostly male competitors) is the lack of sex drive. I recall during my first prep thinking that this couldn’t happen to me. Well long story short it did. Keep in mind that your Sex drive and hormones will return to normal after you’ve completed the show.

Be prepared to be selfish. When your preparing for something as demanding as a bodybuilding show you may have to miss out on certain activities and events. I’ve found sometimes the best way to resist temptation is to eliminate it. As much as I enjoy standing at a crowded bar drinking a Diet Coke it’s easier to avoid those situations completely.
